Sunrise Mountain Engagement Photos in the Central Cascades
These sunrise mountain engagement photos in the Central Cascades were packed with stunning views of mountaintop backdrops, and I’ve been dying to share the adventure with you! Haley and Austin reached out to me for their adventurous engagement photos. After we decided on a sunrise Adventure Session, I knew this location in the Central Cascades would be perfect for their mountain engagement photos. It’s a little over an hour from Seattle and the hike was pretty quick, which meant our wakeup call wasn’t too early (lol, y’all know I’m not a natural morning person!). And, let me tell you, this morning in these Washington mountains did not disappoint!
I picked Haley and Austin up at the bottom of the service road in the trusty 4Runner, and we headed up the Washington mountain road. We drank coffee as our steal-steed climbed up the mountain, and made the quick hike to this stunning overlook. This morning was absolutely stunning for their mountain engagement photos! There was no wind, we could see Mount Rainier and Mount Adams, and the sunrise painted the Central Cascades deep shades of purple. We were all in awe! After we wrapped up their sunrise mountain engagement photos, I cooked us all breakfast out of the back of the 4Runner, and I’m now convinced there’s just no better way to end a morning adventure!
My Favorite Washington Mountains for your Engagement Photos
The Cascades
The Cascade mountain range is home to some of my favorite jagged peaks (like the ones in Haley and Austin’s mountain engagement photos!). This range is home to North Cascades National Park, where you can find Mount Baker! Want to see some other adventures in the Cascades? Explore the links below:
Mount Rainier
It’s no secret around here that I love Mount Rainier! She’s arguably the most iconic Washington mountain. Standing at 14,411 feet, this active volcano (instant cool points!) attracts tourists and locals year-round to explore its alpine lakes, blooming wildflowers and fire lookouts (my personal favorite!). Also, the Tatoosh Range is a stretch of Washington mountains that surround Mount Rainier. There are some really stunning jagged peaks within this range and some absolutely incredible views of Mount Rainier. Why is a mountain overlook the perfect spot for your engagement photos?
If you’re wanting adventurous engagement photos, a Washington mountain overlook is the perfect option! Similar to Haley and Austin’s location, mountain overlooks provide stunning, 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. With the photography gear I use, I’m able to provide really dramatic photos of the mountains as well as the close-up, intimate shots of you and your love. A mountain overlook is an amazing way to capture a lot of variety in your mountain engagement photos.
What to pack for your sunrise mountain engagement photos
Curious what to pack for your sunrise mountain engagement photos? I’m here to share my top recommendations of what to pack before your adventure:
The America the Beautiful annual national park pass costs $80 and will last you for an entire year’s worth of adventures.
Headlamp
This is super important for sunrise sessions because most of your hike to the mountain views will be completed prior to sunrise.
Breakfast and coffee
Who’s surprised that food is on my packing list? Yeah, I figured you wouldn’t be. Like I mentioned earlier, ending Haley and Austin’s mountain engagement session with cooking breakfast in the 4Runner was such a blast! Who’s down for a mountaintop morning meal?
Layers of clothes
The temperature drastically changes as the sunrises, so I always recommend bringing plenty of layers that you can shed throughout the morning. Throw in a long sleeve, sweatshirt, down jacket and rain jacket and you’ll be set!
It is always a good idea to be over prepared. You just never know what furry friend you could meet along a trail in the forest!
