The Between the Pine you know today started as a food blog. I studied dietetics in college, and started a career as a dietitian. But I knew I wanted to start a business. I love cooking and baking. So a food blog seemed like an obvious choice.
I quickly found another path. My skill set as a photographer, but even more importantly, my love for the outdoors and my extroverted personality made adventure elopements a really natural setting. But when I started, I didn’t have examples of my work. I didn’t know how to get clients. It was a hope and a dream.
Four years later, including weathering a freaking global pandemic (pray for 2022 to be the year of no major news, please), I’m almost fully booked out on adventure elopements a year in advance, with more leads coming in every day – many that I now refer out to my network of other talented photographers. I’ve been featured in HuffPost, I’ve hired a small team, and launched passive revenue streams (yes, I still get excited when I see money coming in while I’m sleeping!).
I’ve also been able to invest in business coaching myself, which has greatly changed the game for me. (Truly).
And just in case you’re someone like me who absolutely loves metrics (and is sometimes a bit – okay a lot – competitive), here’s a few more business highlights. I hit six figures my first full year in business, doubled my revenue in year two, doubled it again from year two to three, and made *major* purchases during the pandemic – including Maple, my campervan, and a house (with my husband Drew contributing).
