Hello! I’m so stoked you’re here!

I named my company Between the Pine because I am happiest when I am outside, surrounded by pine trees (or mountains... or the ocean… or the desert... lol).

Since I was little, I’ve always loved the outdoors. This led me to getting the nickname “granola girl” because I’m literally always excited to spend time outside (and even have an outfit and hiking boots + snacks! ready to go at all times).

With a nickname like that, it might shock you to learn that I didn’t grow up surrounded by the epic places that I now call home. I actually grew up in… wait for it... the suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri (KC born and raised!). But, I still found ways to play outside in the creek a short walk from my cul-de-sac, run around barefoot, and make forts in what was, to me at least, a magical forest.

When I went to the University of Arkansas, the Ozarks were my new backyard. And I fell in love! I spent as much time hiking those mountains as possible. I was always ready to go on an adventure. And don’t tell my fellow UofA Razorbacks fans, but my absolute favorite times to hike were during SEC football games because the trails would be even less crowded!

So, really, it’s no surprise that I found my way to Washington State for Elopements…

(which have the most diverse National Parks, forests, beaches, and stunning mountains… in my very biased opinion lol), and to a career as an adventure elopement photographer (which is like a magical hybrid of Junior National Park Ranger, outdoor adventure hype gal, snack magician, and photographer).

I’ve had the honor of walking thousands of miles alongside hundreds of couples to celebrate one of their biggest life moments. And nothing lights me up like getting people outside to epic places. (And then surprising them with snacks and a dance party at the top of the summit!)

Whether you’re dreaming of an adventure wedding with 360-degree views of Mount Tahoma (aka Mount Rainier), exploring the bases of waterfalls (yep, I’m always down to chase waterfalls!) or have no idea where to begin planning, I’m here to help you make your washington elopement your best day yet.

And, if my childhood taught me anything, it's that you do not have to live in an epic place to enjoy the peace and (or?) adventure that comes with being outdoors. But, now that I’ve found some of the most epic places in the world, I can’t wait to show you them!  Keep scrolling to learn more about who I am as a Washington elopement photographer.

The story of how Between the Pine began…..

Okay so I didn’t exactly go from hiking-obsessed, granola girl straight to Washington elopement photographer…

Instead, like any good hike, my journey here was rambly, with lots of stops for views along the way (and maybe some wildlife and wildflower sightings?). Actually, Between the Pine started as a food blog. I’ve always loved cooking and experimenting with recipes. In college, I even got my degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. So when I first picked up my camera, I aimed it at my dinner plates.

I loved sharing recipes with the world (I actually still do and you’ll sometimes find me sharing my favorite trail mix, granola, or the absolute most bomb chocolate chip cookie over on my IG!), but something was missing. My brother-in-law mentioned that he was going to propose to my best friend (yep, we’re best friends turned sisters!) and asked me if I’d help plan and capture the surprise proposal in the mountains.

That day, something clicked (and it wasn’t just my camera lol). Helping plan adventure weddings and elopements combined all of the things I loved -- scoping out epic views, spending as much time as possible outside, and helping people make memories outdoors -- it brought a human element behind the lens, and finally put my type A, love for planning to good use! I began building what you now know as Between the Pine, focusing on adventure wedding and elopement photography, and creating resources to help get everyone outside.

Since then, I’ve captured hundreds of elopements across the Pacific Northwest and Kauai. I’ve written hundreds of blogs about elopements, and guides to national parks, and I’ve launched a few digital products to help you learn everything that I have over the years. We’ve done a lot, and there’s no way I could have done it alone! I’ve got an incredible team working with me who help make Between the Pine what it is today. (Keep reading to “meet” my squad!)
